Upgrade program for laboratory technicians in Butembo

In 2009 Docemus has launched an upgrade program for the Laboratory medicine following the request of the laboratory technician Sister Safiana Kaindula, forwarded to SIBioC (Italian Society of Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology) pointing out the need for an update for the laboratory technicians in Butembo, a town located in the north of the lake Kivu, Democratic Republic of the Congo to the north towards the border with Uganda.

Following this request Docemus carried out three missions, from 2009 to 2011.

The theoretical and practical laboratory lessons held at the Université Islamique Al’Fat’Hu in Butembo have addressed issues concerning aspects of the general physiopathology as well as more specific topics for diseases of high incidence in the area.

The program of the topics that we decided to deal with included:
Hematology (2009)
Coagulation (2010)
Microbiology (2011)

All participants were issued a certificate of participation and in the near future they will be handed a pamphlet, written by Sister Safiana, where all the lessons are collected.
